Melokia ukuleles are some of the most popular around, and the small but melodious soprano ukuleles have remained a big favorite with many fans of their musical qualities. Melokia means "melody." I won a contest that Cascio Music company sponsored, and was sent two of the prizes instead of one. Therefore, I, Cascio Music Company, and CDA News can offer one lucky reader, of this review, a Melokia Nasty Neon Green Soprano Ukulele of his or her very own. For more information and contest rules, please read on!
Ukuleles evoke thoughts of white sandy beaches and Hawaii, but they are not just for playing Hawaiian music anymore, by any stretch of the imagination! TV personality Arthur Godfrey, from the 50s, was one of the first American celebs to popularize ukuleles, though musical artists like Don Ho later also became proponents of the instrument.
George Harrison of The Beatles played a ukulele and the instruments have been taken to new heights by viruosos like the modern-day musical artist, Jake Shimabukuro. Even musicians like Eddie Vedder, the lead singer and guitarist of Pearl Jam, has played a ukulele in some songs he has performed with the group. He released an album called Ukulele Songs and went on a 13-date tour to support it.
Archer Guitars is the company behind making Melokia ukuleles. The soprano versions come in 7 different colors, Classic Natural Brown, Pop Purple, Mostly Mellow Yellow, Midnight Black, Nasty Neon Lime (Green), Pretty Pink, and Wild White. The one that is available in this contest giveaway is a Nasty Neon Green.
Melokia soprano ukuleles were designed and performance tested in the USA, though they are built in China. They have rosewood fretboards with 17 frets and the wood used on their bodies and backs is mahogany. The total overall length of one of the Melokia soprano ukuleles is 20-3/4-inches. Soprano ukuleles have four nylon strings and a fixed guitar bridge system.
Though it can take years to master playing a ukulele, a couple of chords and songs can be learned within maybe an hour or two. There are a lot of ukulele songs online and in songbooks that can be purchased that are sure to provide people learning to play the ukulele a lot of fun. They are fairly easy to play, as I am learning with my very own Melokia Nasty Neon Green Soprano Ukulele. These instruments offer a lot of entertainment value in a relatively small package.
