FLINT, MI -- Residents young and old are being asked for their input on the design of a new playground set for installation at Berston Field House on the city's north side.
A children's design session has been set for 4 p.m. Monday, July 11 at Berston, 3300 N. Saginaw St., followed by an adults' planning meeting from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. on the $100,000 playground being funded by KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization.
KaBOOM! was founded in 1996 and has built open or improved more than 16,000 playgrounds across the country. The nonprofit group's mission is to provide play for children, in particular those growing up in poverty in the United States.
The new playground in Flint is scheduled for installation on Sept. 16, with help from the city of Flint, Friends of Berston Field House, and Make an Impact Foundation.
The children's design session will offer children in attendance the chance to draw their dream playground, while adults will have a chance to sign up for a planning committee and select colors and playground equipment based on the drawings.
Those wishing to attend the sessions have been asked to RSVP by contacting Lynne Peterson at 810-787-6531.
