The 60-year-old designer, who has previously worked with companies like Volkswagen, joined Royal Enfield in November 2014 and was based out of company's England office.
As reported by an industry magazine, the exact reason behind him leaving the company is still not clear. Pierre has designed motorcycles like Ducati Multistrada, HyperMotard, X132 Hellcat Speedster to name a few. He has also worked with the famous Massimo Tamburini an Italian designer behind MV Augusta, Ducati, Cagiva.
He was born in 1958 in South Africa and began his career in advertising with Young & Rubicam company in Ca pe Town handling Ford account. Later he joined a Masters program in Transport Design at the Royal College of Art in London to hone his skills in automotive designing.
Post that, he took a position in Volkswagen's advanced design studio, Design Dusseldorf (Germany), where he worked on VW Golf interiors and the VW Polo project from 1986 to 1989. Later, Terblanche traded four wheels for two and joined Ducati Rimini, where he worked for two years with Massimo Tamburini on the Paso restyling and the Ducati 888. In 1992, he moved to Morazzone Varese, Italy and the Cagiva Design Center, where he created the landmark Ducati Supermono and the Cagiva 600 Enduro, also known as the Canyon.
Out of all, one of his most important design achievements was the Ducati 999, the successor to the multi world championship-winning 916, which was launched in July 2002.
The final project that he designed for Ducati was the HyperMotard presented at the Milan show EICMA in 2005. In 2006 Terbl anche left Ducati to work as an independent design consultant. Working for Moto Guzzi, he designed the three universally acclaimed V-12 concepts bikes, which won the Motorcycle Design Association Award for Best Design at the EICMA in Milan.
