I'm not normally one to let the summer heat keep me from knitting or spinning, but so far this summer I haven't been very productive with anything, especially in the evenings. I have been keeping up with my 15 to 20 minutes of spinning every morning before leaving for work, slowly whittling away at a whopping 4 ounces of Rambouillet, but other than the dog sweater which I felt like I had to force myself to pick up and finish, I haven't had much desire to do anything else. The sweater I'm knitting for myself hasn't been touched in weeks. I brought a sock project to knit night with friends earlier this week and worked on it enough to finish turning the heel before stuffing it back in its project bag. Even my triangle loom has the beginnings of a project that I started and just haven't gotten back to yet.
It might be because of the heat or it might be just a case of the knitting blahs and completely unrelated to the temperatures we've been having. I'm not sure. So while I'm trying to get my fiber mojo back, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to do another book giveaway. This one comes without a review. This copy of "Scarves, Shrugs & Shawls: 22 Knitted Designs with Their Special Techniques" by Sarah Halton was given to me by Blog Boss Mike Huber yesterday because he wanted it off his desk.
I'm not sure how long it's been on his desk but I'm guessing it's been a while. This book was published in 2013, and I don't think publishers send out review copies three years later. No matter though. It's a win-win situation for you, the reader, as well as for Mike Huber.
Here's what you need to do to win this book. Comment below and tell us how your knitting, crochet, weaving, or spinning productivity is affected (if at all) by the summer heat. Do you work on different/smaller projects, work with different types of yarn or fibers, or like me so far, just not do much at all? One comment will be selected using a random number generator next Saturday, July 2nd, and that commenter will win this book.
That's it for me this morning. I'm going to spend a little time spinning the Rambouillet and then get some outside work done before it gets too darn hot. Later on this morning we'll be hitting the Farmer's Market at The Crossings in Colonie, possibly with one or more of the dogs, and speaking of The Crossings, perhaps we need to try another Saturday Morning Spinning In The Park this year. Hopefully without the drama we experienced last time. Anyone interested?
Have a great weekend!
